Thus have I heard at one time:

The Blessed One dwelt in Rajagaha, on Vulture Peak, with a great congregation of bhikkhus, bodhisattvas, and the whole universe of gods, people, and devas.

At that time, the Blessed One spoke to Ananda, his attendant:

For the welfare and happiness of all beings, in a single letter, hear this teaching of the prajnaparamita:

आ                       

Herein the Blessed One revealed 

the prajnaparamita, 

Mother of the Tathagatas.

In response, Ananda, with the whole congregation of bhikkhus, bodhisattvas, the whole universe of gods, people, devas, and all the singing and dancing spirits, rejoiced at the teaching of the Blessed One.
